ST. LOUIS - A St. Louis man pleaded guilty Friday to a second-degree murder charge in a man's shooting death several years ago, which stemmed from drug debt. Investigators say Benjamin Chatman, now 35, shot Gregory Jordan, then 35, in St. Louis' Hamilton Heights neighborhood on Sept. 7, 2015. The two were involved in an argument over a drug debt prior to the shooting. According to court documents, Chatman fled to New York after the shooting, where U.S. Marshals later arrested him. In his initial statement to police, Chatman denied shooting Jordan. He also claimed he had moved to Buffalo and was living there at the time of the shooting. Three men charged in St. Charles County trafficking case plead not guilty Chatman was originally convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in 2017, but he appealed the decision. Last year, a St. Louis circuit court judge vacated the convictions and determined that Chatman's trial lawyer had misinformed him about Missouri's sentencin...

Can you get a refund for poor in-flight Wi-Fi?

Published Fri, 21 Feb 2025 10:18:28 GMT

For many frequent flyers in 2023, functional Wi-Fi has become a critical in-flight amenity. Many travelers demand access to the cloud while they’re, well, in the clouds. But sometimes, the Wi-Fi is no good. It takes three tries to reload a page, or the connection cuts out right when you've found what you were looking for. That's frustrating enough for passengers on airlines like JetBlue that offer complimentary Wi-Fi, or for those who get free in-flight Wi-Fi through their airline elite status or an airline-branded credit card. But it’s most brutal for the people who pay specifically for in-flight Wi-Fi yet receive a service that hardly serves them at all. 7.6 magnitude earthquake strikes off the southern Philippines; tsunami warning issued I had a faulty Wi-Fi connection on a United Airlines flight in September from San Francisco to Orlando. (BCN) -- California is failing to provide a high-quality education to students in the juvenile justice system by not addressing the inadequacies of academic data collection practices, according to a recent report from the national Youth Law Center. Current collection practices, the report authors argue, do not accurately measure student needs and outcomes."A failure to design better metrics would be a disastrous choice on the part of California stakeholders to keep these students out of sight and out of mind," the report's authors wrote. Biden says HIV/AIDS strategy needs to confront inequity The report, "Out of Sight, Out of Mind," is a follow-up to a 2016 report that similarly found the state to be failing in its mission of providing students in juvenile detention with high-quality education via its disproportionate representation of multiple student populations, high rates of chronic absenteeism, low high school graduation rates, inaccurate or incomplete data, and more. The most...
