Skilling: Sunny, breezy Wednesday ahead for Chicagoland

Published Thu, 14 Nov 2024 12:53:11 GMT

Skilling: Sunny, breezy Wednesday ahead for Chicagoland A third consecutive mild, 100% sunny day in Chicago.  The last time we put three straight days of 100% of our possible sun together was Oct 1, 2 and 3----a month and a half ago. It's Pacific air which is behind the beautiful weather—and Pacific air is DRY!! Dew points in the 20s underscore the fact—so do 20 to 25% relative humidities.  When you have dew points, which are a measure of atmospheric moisture, in the 20s and air temps in the 60s, THAT'S VERY DRY AIR!  The Pacific air has much of the country running MILD. Nearly 87% of the Lower 48 has enjoyed 50-deg or warmer temps today---a percentage that will fall to half that level over the coming weekend as more seasonable cool autumn air moves in.Dry air both warms by day and cools at night very quickly. So you get a WIDER THAN NORMAL SPREAD between daytime highs and nighttime lows.  From yesterday's low 60-deg highs, nighttime lows crashed into the low 20s away from the warmth of the city and Lake Michigan.  Morning lows botto...

The man accused of attacking Pelosi's husband apologizes for hammer assault SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The man accused of attacking former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband with a hammer apologized Tuesday, echoing right-wing conspiracy theories to explain to jurors that he went to the Pelosis’ home as part a bigger plot to end what he viewed as government corruption.David DePape spoke for more than an hour in which he tearfully recounted about how his political leanings went from leftist to right wing after reading a comment on a YouTube video about former President Donald Trump. He said he bludgeoned Paul Pelosi after realizing his larger plan might be unraveling. Testimony wrapped up later Tuesday, with closing arguments expected Wednesday. DePape has pleaded not guilty to attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official with intent to retaliate against the official for performance of their duties. His attorneys argue that he was not seeking to go after Nancy Pelosi because of her official duti...

We must act before they crash,” MHA President Dr. Rahul Koranne said in an interview with Minnesota Public Radio News.Koranne said that overall, labor costs are up 7%, and inflation has pushed up supply and service costs 6%. He said hospitals are also taking on larger numbers of Medicare and Medicaid patients, and those programs’ reimbursement rates are far below what providers spend on care.Another problem is that a lack of capaci...

Ivan Pace Jr.? Anthony Barr? How will the Vikings proceed at linebacker with Jordan Hicks on IR? It’s no secret what veteran linebacker Jordan Hicks has meant to the Vikings this season. He’s an unquestioned leader in the locker room, and maybe more importantly, a conduit to the coaching staff whenever the defense is on the field.Vikings linebacker Jordan Hicks (58) is introduced before an NFL football game against the New Orleans Saints Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, in Minneapolis. (AP Photo/Matt Krohn)As the player who wears green-dot helmet with a direct line of communication to defensive coordinator Brian Flores, Hicks has been tasked with getting everybody in position before the snap. It would also extend the authorization of programs and authorities in the Farm Bill until Sept. 30.The legislation now heads to the Senate, where it has support from both party leaders.
